About[]

Atkelement

This weapon has two Attack Elements

In Patapon 3, wapons have an Attack Element (AE). All weapons have at least one AE, with the exception of Scepters. The AE of a weapon determines how much damage the weapon deals to various enemies and obstacles. A weapon's AE can be seen on a unit's status page (press  when cusomizing a unit's equipment).

Variations[]

AE comes in two archetypes: Physical and Magical

Physical Attack Element[]

Physical AE comes in five types: [Crush], [Strike], [Slash], [Stab] and [Sound]. Each type has its own pros and cons when dealing with certain opponents. For example, [Crush] and [Strike] are the most effective against Structures, so they deal the most damage against them. [Slash] only deals medium damage, and is only moderately effective against Structures. [Stab] and [Sound] are least effective, damaging Structures least. However, [Stab] is most effective against Gargoyles. Try choosing the appropriate AE for every mission.

Attack elements VS structures:

Crush > Strike > Slash > Stab > Sound

Magical Attack Element[]

Magic AE comes in six types: [Fire], [Ice], [Lightning], [Poison], [Light], and [Darkness]. Each type has various powers and weaknesses. For example, [Light] inflicts Holy damage, which is the most effective way to slay Demons and Undeads. [Ice] counters [Fire] and vice versa, and [Light] counters [Darkness] and vice versa. Learning how to effectively use elements is important.

Elemental Changes[]

Certain equipment has the ability to harness a different AE from that of other weapons of the same type. For example, The Krakabom Crossbow has [Strike] (Whereas other Longbows have [Stab]). Unlike other Halberds, which have [Stab] along with whatever element they are, Incensar has only [Fire]. The Jewelsword Staff has [Slash], instead of a Magic AE.

Trivia[]

  • The Greatshield equipment type is the only Armor that has an AE ([Strike]).
  • Scepters are the only weapons that do not have an attack element.
  • These are the 4 classes and their respective Set Skills that boost the strength of Attack Elements:
    • Piekron (Stab Master) - Which increases stab based weapons' damage output and increases critical rate by 20%.
    • Tondenga (Strike Master) - Which increases strike based weapons' damage output, increases knockback and stagger by 20%.
    • Grenburr (Slash Master) - Which increases slash based weapons' damage output, increases movement speed by 10% and increases attack speed by 20%.
    • Oohoroc (Lighting Master) & (Flame Master)
