Introduced in Patapon 2, the Evolution Map is used to upgrade Patapons into Rarepons, improving their strengths and abilities. It can be accessed through Mater, The Tree of Life. Unlike Patapon 1, where only one Rarepon could be created for each unit at a time, the Evolution Map allows each unit to develop as any Rarepon at any time, allowing them to change forms in the Headquarters. Each unit has their own map, so each individual unit develops independently.

The Evolution Map is also the only method of obtaining Memories, which unlock new Patapon classes and units to create. Memories can be unlocked once the associated Rarepon has been unlocked. Only one Patapon is needed to permanently unlock a memory. Note that certain memories can only be unlocked through certain classes. Each of the main classes (Yaripon, Tatepon, and Yumipon) has two memories.

In Patapon 3, the Evolution Map is replaced with Class Trees, one for each of the three main classes: Taterazay, Yarida, and Yumiyacha. Class Trees are not directly accessed, but instead will automatically unlock new classes as existing classes are leveled up.
