Rarepons are unique Patapons with different abilities and traits created by Mater, The Tree of Life. The type of Rarepon produced by Mater is determined by the quality of the materials given to the tree. Using higher quality materials will also increase the Ka-ching, but will result in more powerful Rarepons. Once a Rarepon is created, the process cannot be refunded, but the unit can be dismissed in the Headquarters with the SELECT button to allow the creation of another Rarepon.

- In Patapon 2, all Rarepons gain different appearance based on their levels, with the level 5 appearance being identical to the appearance in Patapon 1.
- Transferring Patapon 1 save data to Patapon 2 will carry over each unit's Rarepon form.
