For the Rarepons featured in the first Patapon, see Patapon 1 Rarepons.
Patapon2Rarepons

Rarepons are unique Patapons with different abilities and traits created by Mater, The Tree of Life through the Evolution Map. Unlike Patapon 1, a unit's Rarepon type can be changed freely in the Headquarters once that Rarepon has been unlocked. This allows for greater army customization and unit flexibility. In addition, each Rarepon type can be upgraded with additional materials and Ka-ching to improve their abilities. At level 5 and 10, a Rarepon's appearance will change. Rarepons can be improved up to level 10; maximizing their potential in that form.

Initially, each Rarepon type requires two types of materials to upgrade. At level 3 and 6, an new material is added, totaling to four different types of materials. The amounts of each material will also increase with each improvement. The type of material depends on the unit's class:

Class Material 1 (Level 1+) Material 2 (Level 1+) Material 3 (Level 3+) Material 4 (Level 6+)
Yaripon Minerals Fangs Meats Bones
Tatepon Meats Minerals Fangs Hides
Yumipon Fangs Bones Minerals Wood
Kibapon Bones Wood Hides Minerals
Dekapon Hides Meats Bones Fangs
Megapon Wood Vegetables Juices Alloys
Toripon Vegetables Alloys Wood Seeds
Robopon Alloys Hides Vegetables Juices
Mahopon Seeds Juices Alloys Vegetables

When importing save data from Patapon 1, the Rarepon type of the original unit will be available to unlock immediately without having to follow the Evolution Map. For example, having one Tikulee Yaripon in Patapon 1 will allow one Yaripon in Patapon 2 to unlock Chiku without having to unlock Pyopyo and Nyontama.

Normal

"A normal Patapon. He can get a little stronger by leveling up."

Normal is the first and most basic Rarepon. All units will start their Evolution Map at Normal before they can be upgraded to other Rarepon types. They gain slight Ignite, Freeze, and Sleep Resist as they evolve. Normal Patapons are the only Rarepons that can wear helmets, with the except of Dekapon, Megapon, and Mahopon units. These three units, however, instead gain additional HP and resistances, Sleep Ratio, or Critical Ratio, respectively.

Pyopyo

"Resistant against cold chills but weak against fire. Leveling up will increase his speed."

Pyopyo are rabbit-like Rarepons and are the fastest Rarepons in terms of movement speed. They are slightly vulnerable to Fire but are naturally resistant against Ice and Freezing, eventually becoming completely immune to Freeze. As they evolve, they gain slight Critical, Knockback, and Stagger rates. Pyopyos are easy to upgrade and work well against icy weapons and freezing weather.

Pyopyo evolve from Normal Rarepons. Having a Pyopyo Yaripon will also unlock Kibapon's Memory

Nyontama

"Resistant against some fire and electrical attacks. He'll gain speed as he levels up; however his stagger won't improve."

Nyontama are frog-like Rarepons that are naturally resistant against Fire, Ignite, and Electricity, eventually becoming completely immune to Ignite. They have good damage growth and can deliver strong critical hits, making them excellent fighters. Their resistance to fire, inexpensive costs, and reliable damage make them very useful for beginners.

Mofu

"Improved resistance against knockback, stagger and cold chills; however, he's highly flammable. HP increases as he levels up."

Mofu are sheep-like Rarepons that have the second highest HP bonus of all the Rarepons. In addition, they are highly resistant some elemental attacks and status effects, but are highly vulnerable to Fire and Ignite. They attack slower than the average Patapon, and their attack growth is subpar; offering no additional status rates. Mofus eventually become completely immune to Criticals, Knockback, and Stagger.

Chiku

"Improves critical hits but low defense skills and freezes easily. His speed only starts to be effective after leveling up."

Chiku are hedgehog-like Rarepons that have the fastest attack speed of all the Rarepons, allowing them to rain a barrage of attacks. They also have a slight boost in Critical Rate to further improve their damage. Chiku are slightly vulnerable to elemental attacks and Freezing.

Mogyu

"One of the best Patapon fighters; however, he'll need to level up before he unlocks his killer instincts."

One of the three final Rarepons, Mogyu are bull-like Rarepons and are the most powerful in terms of raw strength. They offer excellent HP bonuses, exceptional damage, and a high Stagger Rate. However, Mogyu are also one of the slowest Rarepons, both in movement and attack speed, and are expensive to upgrade. They work well as long-distance units like Yumipons as their distance gives them more time to evade incoming attacks.

Sabara

"A lethal Patapon, unlock his mighty fighting skills by leveling up. 20% resistance against sleep and 1.2x attack speed."

One of the three final Rarepons, Sabara are bird-like Rarepons and boast the highest Critical Rate of any Rarepon. They have good damage growth and are naturally resistant against Sleep, eventually becoming completely immune to it entirely. Although their description states that they have 20% faster attack speed, Sabara do not have this bonus but do move faster than normal. Their high Critical Rate allows them to deal fatal blows with equipment that have high damage but low critical. Compared to Mogyu, Sabara put their focus on speed and are slightly easier to upgrade.

Sabara evolve from Chiku and Koppen Rarepons. Having a Sabara Yaripon will also unlock Toripon's Memory.

Buhyokko are pig-like Rarepons that are naturally resistant against knockback, eventually becoming completely immune to it. They have good HP bonuses, damage growth, and Stagger Rate, but move and attack slightly slower than the average Patapon. Their low upgrade costs make them a good choice for building up a more durable army.

Fumya are cat-like Rarepons that have good Critical Rate growth and faster attack speed. As they evolve, their Critical Rate will improve and their attack speed will become even faster, though not as fast as Chiku Rarepons. However, Fumya are slightly vulnerable to Ice.

Wanda are dog-like Rarepons that have excellent damage growth and a slight boost in Stagger Rate. They can provide reliable damage, but aren't particularly resistant to anything and are vulnerable to sleep. Wandas are relatively easy to upgrade, making them dependable Rarepons in any situation.

Menyokki are plant-like Rarepons who have the highest HP bonus and Stagger Rate out of all the Rarepons. However, they are exceedingly vulnerable to Fire and Ignite. Their high Stagger Rate makes them invaluable when fighting bosses for materials.

Chigyobi are fish-like Rarepons with well-rounded offensive capabilities, featuring good damage growth, improved attack speed, and increased Critical and Stagger rates. Uhoho are monkey-like Rarepons that can inflict a variety of status effects, including Stagger, Ignite, Freeze, and Sleep. They have good HP, damage, Critical, Knockback, and Stagger Rate growth, and can resist Critical, Knockback, and Stagger just as well. They eventually become completely immune to Critical, Knockback, and Stagger altogether, making them very sturdy Rarepons. In addition to having the highest Ignite rate of any Rarepon, they also take half damage from all sources except elemental attacks.
